Feeling stuck at the start of the year?
Happy New Year! 🎉
I don’t know about you, but for me, the start of a new year often brings a flurry of emotions.
On the one hand, there’s the wonderful feeling of a fresh start—a new chapter and the opportunity to begin again. Tabula Rasa. This sense of renewal often comes with the ending of something and the promise of something new. These milestones are important; they give us the chance to pause and reflect rather than feeling trapped in a never-ending grind. 😊
On the other hand, the end of a year can also stir up unexpected emotions.
Being on holiday, while lovely, disrupts our routines and removes the usual distractions. With fewer external demands, thoughts and feelings that have been quietly simmering in the background often rise to the surface.
This can be incredibly valuable—it allows us to process things we may not have time to address in the busyness of day-to-day life. But it can also catch us off guard. After all, isn’t this supposed to be a time of rest and relaxation?
Add to that the potential challenges of navigating complex family relationships or dealing with unnecessary tension, and it’s no wonder the holidays can sometimes trigger emotional overwhelm. 😟
What can you do about it?
Here are a few ideas to help shift the momentum:
Reconnect with what inspires you.
Before diving headfirst into new goals, take time to do something you love. Visit an art gallery, go for a wine tasting, listen to your favourite album—whatever helps you rediscover your groove. 🎶Reach out to someone.
When we keep our worries to ourselves, shame often grows unchecked. Talking to a trusted friend about how you’re feeling can provide relief and remind you that you’re not alone. 🤝Set more realistic goals.
Instead of rushing to achieve last year’s unattainable goal, take a step back. Ask yourself how you can approach this year with kindness and reduce the pressure you’re putting on yourself. 💡
Remember: although you might feel alone, you’re certainly not the only one experiencing these thoughts and emotions.
I hope these ideas help you find your footing and reconnect with why you started your business in the first place. You’ve got this! 🌟
